Blueberry Bourbon BBQ Sauce

(3 customer reviews)

We created this Blueberry Bourbon BBQ Sauce during one of our Virtual Wine Experiences called “How To Love The Red Wine You Are With”

As we discussed tips on tasting wine we noticed that most red wines tend to have a taste of either red fruit ( ie:  cherry, raspberry, strawberry, cranberry etc…) or dark fruit ( ie: plum, blackberry, currant, blueberry etc…)

As we delved into food and wine pairing we discussed being open to the idea that it’s THE SAUCE not THE PROTEIN that matters.  Which gives you a lot more wiggle room when it comes to pairing food and wine.

To demonstrate this point, we at Wallace River Revival created an artisan batch of BBQ sauce to pair with red wines.  Especially those that have a dominance of blue fruit such as the following grape varieties : Mouverdre, Syrah/Shiraz, Tempranillo, Malbec, and some Cabernet Sauvignon.

This Blueberry Bourbon BBQ sauce was designed to go with the widest selection of ‘protein’ sources possible.  Some people liked it with Salmon and Chicken Thighs.  Others loved it with ham/pork.  We tried it on a veggie burger called ‘Fieldburgers’.  All the options were delicious but when paired with wine that’s where we all saw the magic happen.

Wine or not.  Traditional or not, this hand-crafted product is as unique as it gets.  Our work meets food safety standards but has all the flavour of small batch.

This product will be shipped in a glass or BPA-free canning jar 250 ml.

My wife and I found the BBQ sauce very unique. Lovely strong but not overpowering flavor with just the right amount of heat. Also the blueberries really come through in the finish for a light sweetness . We used as a sauce and also a rub. Highly recommend.
